Product Overview
The Custom CNC-Machined Aluminum Thermoforming Mold for Hinged Salad Bowls is developed for plastic salad containers with an integrated lid and bowl. HXW Mold customizes the tooling according to the bowl capacity, sidewall profile, lid clearance and closure design, while matching the unfolded product layout to the available machine forming area.
CNC-machined aluminum components reproduce the bowl contours, reinforcing details and lid features specified in the approved drawing. For compatible multi-station equipment, forming, cutting and stacking tooling can be supplied together to support coordinated container production.
Engineering Focus
Hinged salad bowls combine a relatively deep container base with a shallower lid and connecting hinge. The tooling design coordinates material distribution, cooling, closure geometry and trimming so these features work together in the finished package.

Bowl Depth & Wall Distribution
Bowl depth, sidewall angles and base transitions are reviewed against the sheet grade and thickness. Vacuum passages and plug-assist geometry, where required, are developed to improve material distribution through the deeper sections.

Lid Profile & Hinge Transition
Lid clearance and the connecting hinge area are evaluated together with the bowl rim. Cooling arrangements account for the different forming depths to help maintain the intended lid and bowl shapes.

Rim Closure & Trim Position
The lid engagement profile, opening tabs and peripheral cut line are coordinated during mold design. Matching forming and cutting references helps the lid align with the bowl after folding.

Open-Pack Stacking & Machine Fit
The unfolded bowl-and-lid footprint, nesting clearance and collection direction are considered for stacking. Mounting positions, alignment features and air and water connections are customized to the production equipment.
