HXW Mold develops High Speed Production Moulds for Standard Cake Clamshells used in bakery display, takeaway and retail packaging. Each tooling set is configured around the approved cake box dimensions, lid clearance, base profile and hinge design, with the cavity arrangement matched to the customer's thermoforming equipment.
CNC-machined aluminum forming components are combined with cooling and release features designed for repeated production cycles. Matching cutting and stacking tooling can be supplied for compatible multi-station lines. Achievable production speed is evaluated according to the machine, sheet specifications, forming depth and collection system.

Continuous cake clamshell production requires the forming, cooling, trimming and collection stages to work together. Tooling design considers cycle requirements alongside the package shape, hinge function and closing fit.

Cake Clearance & Forming Layout
Lid height, base contours and internal clearance are reviewed against the cake packaging drawing. The unfolded clamshell footprint is used to determine cavity orientation, spacing and the available production layout.

Cooling Response & Product Release
Cooling channels and forming passages are arranged around the lid and base depths. Draft angles, release clearances and plug assistance where required are considered to support repeatable forming and removal.

Hinge Folding & Closure Accuracy
The hinge transition, closing rim and opening tabs are coordinated with the product outline. Forming and cutting references are reviewed together so the lid and base can align as intended after folding.

Station Coordination & Stack Handling
Tooling interfaces are customized for transfer between the forming, cutting and stacking stations. Nesting features and collection clearances are assessed to support the handling of open cake clamshells during continuous operation.

Can you manufacture tooling for our existing standard cake box?
Yes. Send the approved product drawing or a physical sample with the required dimensions. We will review the lid, base, hinge and closure features and prepare the tooling design for confirmation.
Can the moulds be matched to an automatic three-station machine?
Yes. Forming, cutting and stacking tooling can be developed for compatible three-station equipment. Machine installation drawings and station interface details are required to confirm mounting, positioning and container collection arrangements.
How do you check the cake clamshell tooling before shipment?
The tooling undergoes component and assembly inspections followed by an in-house forming trial. Formed samples are reviewed for shape, trimming, hinge folding and closure fit. Trial videos and samples can be provided for approval.
What is the lead time for a cake clamshell tooling set?
Typical production takes 35–45 working days after receipt of the deposit and approval of the final mold drawing. The confirmed schedule depends on the cavity arrangement, package complexity and required tooling scope.
